Our story begins with a visionary builder, Pat Rocheleau, along with amazing partners Tom Donegan and Ken Sullivan. We dared to develop a golf course that would deliver both the beauty and challenge of New England’s top golf courses, blending the benefits of public play with a unique membership. There were challenges during approvals and plenty of ledges to sculpt during construction. It took seven years of teamwork, true grit, and a fair amount of dynamite to transform every obstacle into opportunities for beauty. The Ledges opened to acclaim in 1999 and over the years has been featured in Golfweek and Golf Digest’s “Best Course You Can Play”. In addition, it’s been The Ledges honor to host the northern NE US Amateur Qualifier for 12 consecutive years. Today, The Ledges stands as a testament to passion, perseverance, and the power of the independent spirit.

Our architect Brad Booth knew it wouldn’t be easy to carve excellence from sheer rock ledge, but like our leadership, Brad believes everyone has the right to experience golf that is challenging, enjoyable and memorable. Thanks to Brad, you’ll experience the ups and downs of our landscape to great advantage; our greens and tees are perched on elevated spots where you will enjoy sweeping vistas of the picturesque New England countryside for miles around. He also created fast and undulating greens that demand the best out of your short-game skills.

At The Ledges, our superintendent, Joe Grady—affectionately known as the “Greens Whisperer”—ensures a pro-level challenge in serene natural beauty. Joe grew up in Wrentham, MA and developed his skills in Turf Management at UMASS Amherst. He then excelled as assistant at the famed Pine Valley Golf Club. He and his wife Lynne moved to the seacoast to lead the grounds crew during the construction and grow in. All these years later, Joe and his dedicated crew keep The Ledges in beautiful condition; with rolling greens, breathtaking vistas, and abundant wildlife to inspire and challenge every golfer.
